Downstream, these acids are polymerized with glycols (such as ethylene glycol) to produce PET, polyesters, and specialty resins, which are then used across packaging (bottles, films), textiles (polyester fibers), automotive materials, coatings, and electronics. The industry is highly integrated, capital-intensive, and dominated by large petrochemical players, with strong regional clusters in China, the U.S., and the Middle East due to proximity to feedstocks and large-scale polyester demand.
